Although she loves working in a multitude of media (colored pencil, watercolors, acrylics, oil, pastel, clay, paper clay and papier-mâché), Galen says, "I will have to admit my favorite is making UBz," she says. "Bringing UBz 'to life' has been the most fun I have ever had creating."

Galen stuffs shrunken sweaters with dryer balls, wool balls, felted wool, socks, etc. 
"My artwork is about making people happy,” she adds, “and making them and, especially myself, laugh."

Galen began teaching at Alamogordo High School in 1994, where she taught all levels of sculpture courses, including AP Studio Art: 3D design. She retired at the end of the 2021-22 school year.
